GENERAL INFORMATION RE:  PREPERATION FOR WOOD FLOORS

1.  Hardwood flooring should be one of the last things installed.  All work that
involves water or moisture (plumbing, painting, dry wall taping, etc)  should be
completed before the wood is delivered to the job site.

2.  Overall landscaping to be checked to ensure that proper drainage is provided.
Minimum of 6" drop in first 10 feet away from the building.  All concrete slabs
must have a minimum of  a 6 mm. vapor barrier, between the ground and the concrete.

3.  Moisture meter testing must be done.

4.  A "DRY" slab as defined by a moisture meter, can be "WET" at other times of
the year.

5.  Building interiors are affected by two distinct humidity seasons - Heating and
Non-Heating.  Wood floors may be affected by varying levels of humidity within
the building.  Care should be taken to ensure that humidity levels remain within the
45% to 55% range.

6.  Heating Season (DRY) Humidifier is recomended to prevent excessive shrinkage
in wood floors - due to low humidity.  Wood stoves and electric heaters tend to
create very dry conditions.

7.  Non-Heating Season: (Humid, Wet) Proper humidity levels can be maintained by
use of an air conditioner, or dehumidifier.

8.  Temperature:  The job site should have a consistant room temperature of 60 - 70
degrees F. for a minimum of three days prior to installation, and consistantly there-
after.

9.  Floors should not be used for at least 24 hours, after install, and in particular, no
furniture or appliances on the new floor for this period
