With Us Since: Incorporation in December 1993
- Multi-Unit Structures
Chris has been in the flooring industry for nearly 30 years, starting when he was hired by Maurice Upton to install carpet.
Born and raised in Langford, Chris began working in the restaurant industry at his father’s steakhouse, Mr. Mike’s (a local favorite many of us long-time Victorian’s will remember). In 1975, he changed direction as the city was seeing a demand for tradespeople and it seemed like a wise decision to branch out into a new experience on his own. After meeting Maurice, he started working as an installer.
Determined and hardworking, Chris continued installing floors for 3 years until he decided to go into business with his father. It was a swing back to the restaurant industry, this time as an entrepreneur, owning British Fish & Chips in Esquimalt. Successful as the restaurant was, after 11 solid years, Chris decided to change gears again.
Returning to the flooring industry, Chris began his sales career at Butler Bros, often subcontracting work to Maurice, primarily installing commercial products. Five years later, when Butler Bros decided to discontinue the department, an opportunity presented itself for Chris and Maurice to seize the chance of operating their own business. In 1993, they officially founded Pacific Coast Floor Covering Inc.
